The Story of ZULVIQUE
Before ZULVIQUE had a name, leather was already part of our family's story.
It was a craft learned through practice: understanding the material, working patiently with it, and watching how individual details come together to create a finished piece. Across generations, that knowledge passed from one pair of hands to another.
Today, we carry that tradition forward through ZULVIQUE.
Our Roots
Our story connects two brothers through a shared family craft.
What connects us is a respect for leather and for the work required to turn it into something worth carrying, wearing, and keeping. Through our work, we bring together our experience, the skills inherited from our families, and a shared ambition: to create leather goods we are proud to put our name on.
Each brother brings his own perspective. What we share is the same standard — no shortcuts, no mass-made pieces, nothing we would not carry ourselves.
Understanding the Leather
Every piece begins with the material.
Before cutting starts, we consider the leather's grain, texture, thickness, and flexibility. We look at how it feels and how it will serve the product we are making.
A duffel bag needs strength and capacity. A handbag needs balance and structure. A jacket needs comfort and freedom of movement. Choosing the leather means understanding those differences.
Natural variations give leather its individual character. Our work begins with recognising that character and deciding how best to bring it into the finished design.
Our pieces are collected from different parts of the globe and handstitched, so each one carries its own character — the grain, the stitching, the way it softens with wear.
The Work Behind Every Piece
The process moves through many stages: selecting, measuring, cutting, preparing, shaping, stitching, and finishing.
Each stage demands attention. Panels must align. Seams must sit correctly. Handles and straps must feel comfortable. Edges need careful finishing, and linings and hardware must work with the design.
Handwork remains part of our process, continuing the skills passed down to us. We take care with the details people see — and with the construction they come to appreciate through use.
For us, craftsmanship lives in these everyday decisions.
